Cheryl Christian Visit

Cheryl Christian, Austin, Texas, came to interview me for a magazine article. Since I don’t often have that experience, I thought to share it here on my web site. With Cheryl’s permission, I am sharing some of the pictures she took in my studio and throughout my home. It was interesting to share and visit. Everyone seems interested in my costuming background, but Cheryl has also worked in drama and was familiar with all the things I had done in the costume shop at Texas A&M. We shared lunch and tea as you will see. We hauled out quilts and projects , took photos and talked and talked. Thank you Cheryl, for a wonderful day.

Tea Time Cheryl and I shared the tea. The squares are from quilts that De Leclair and I made together. De and I are both fascinated by quilts of the 1890-1910 period. I pieced two and she quilted two and we each kept one. The quilt in the background was made by my maternal grandmother. I have no idea what the pattern is, but I treasure this quilt. My Grandma and her sister quilted together; her sister did the ‘fancy work’ and my Grandma did the plain quilts.
De Quilt Here is the quilt De and I made.

De Quilt Detail Here is a close-up of De’s quilting. Beautiful work.

Close up of Straight Furrows This is another of the 1890-1910 era reproductions by De and me. The full sized quilts were quite challenging and none of the blocks is paper pieced.

Rubber Duckies The rubber duckies are just for fun. The fabric came out a few years ago and I have hoarded some for special projects.
